I'm back from the Officer Training Course! *woot* Finally, the whole course is completed (minus the National First Aid Competition & Annual General Insepection). Looking forward to my Passing Out Ceromany in September. Hopefully if nothing goes wrong, I can get my Grade 6 rank.
The camp had really bonded everyone together very well. I could really feel the St. John spirit in me...(back from toilet. tsktsk. 3 days lehx!) Anyway, ya the camp. Though I didn't really interact much with the Bravo division but when it comes to cheering one another, everyone is just so spontaneous. Of course, I get to know more of the other people from other Corps; other Zones...
Day 1
A dreadful day for me. I was in a hurry to get out of my house without my mess tin which I was searching for it the entire morning. Got to 7-11 after that to get my 2 botles of Ice mountain mineral water which cost me a damn freaking $3! So, yup, I was late again in meeting wei teng and chu wen. (sorry!) Chu wen also went back to took her hair net. So in the end, 3 of us took a cab down there.
Reached Bedok North Secondary School 10 minutes before parade. Everyone just seemed so dreadful then. We were all giving that very '
sian' look. So the parade started and the strength was like only 53/81. Half of them booking in late due to work and schooling. All the adminstrative stuff on that day. The bunk booking in and arrangement took a freaking long time! And I was quite swauyed to be the Bunk I/C. Somemore I was asking who is the bunk I/C lo! -_-" Anyway, was in the same bunk as Candy and Hong Jin. The Course I/C also pretty
chum. He's from my group (Tango) de. Then Vincent (the DO) also never really help him. Haix!
ke lian the Choon Kiat looked so damn stress that day. Didn't see him talked much. Bryan joined us during the camp. He's like 22, NS guy. He attended 2003 OTC but was unable to go for NS.
There's 'Ice-breaking' games that day too that was organised by the officers. It was very fun cause everyone got wet lo! Being splashed like
siao lo! Pity those nursing we wore white tee that day. Had lots of fun. =)
Day 2
Hiking @ Ubin. Hui Shi went with us with us but not Vincent. Gina wasn't feeling well so he had to accompanied her and got attached with Hotel. Too bad, it's
that group instructor that was unwell. haha. *wink*
So the route is so damn long for Tango. We actually had to walk from Chek Jawa to Northin Beach, then from the beach to like another far end. Passing Jalan Maman like don't know how many times. Bryan taught us some of his NS cheers on the way. Find them pretty interesting. It's just a very tiring hike but was pretty fun. Had quite a couple of bits too. That's like souviners for people who go for Ubin la. Sure get it one. Confirm plus garantee plus chop!
We had night activites too. Fun but can be longer. Really bond the group together but need more games too. Pherhaps officers could joined in too! hehe. Then the Zone 5 people so funny! We were like magnet lo! When they said whole course make a circle, most of the Zone 5 people would automatically come together de lo! I just love that! haha. Chu wen was like "Oie! We should interact more with other people." I agree but
magnet lo! It just feel so homely and the sense of farmilarity when we are together. Then Ai Cheng saw us but said nothing much. Xuan Ting came later and was laughing at us lo! Somemore kind of encourage us during the 'Hunter & Squrriel' game that we could exchange among ourselves lehx! hahahaha! Just love her! yayaya, this may sound so ironic. if you remember, I used to dislike her so so much. This is during 'Standard'. But after knowing her better, my impression of her got better. You just need time to get along with her one I guess.
Day3
Triage. Chu Wen was the Course I/C. I guess she was very stressed up bt the committee that she broke down half way.
Forget bout it k? You did a good job as a Course I/C. Really. There was like an unexpected 'explosion' suddenly that almost the whole Bravo division nusing went down. So the manpower was really like shit. Anyway, I was in the first aid post under Pirioty 1 (the most seripus case of injury). There's like a lot of spinal and breathing problems. Then Sir Steven came along to guide me & jes in the recovery position thing. He's very nice and kind. Didn't like ticked us off when the position was wrong. ^^
Team Building games. Some are quite fun. But I really really dislike the station that we had to get our flag from the Raymond. He's like duh!
The station is like this: we had to get our flag back from him by making him laugh.
Llame right. He's like damn dao and zhuai lo. I just can't stand he's attitude at some parts of it. Actually I found it alright at first but he kept like walking away and going elsewhere that really made me quite irritated. He's like not giving us the attention. That really pissed me off. I can't remember what made him laugh. Zzz. Bryan was like trying damn hard in that station cause priscilla and sheela were very pissed off. Really
pei fu him. However, he had to go and book in camp the next day so he had to go off then. So sad. He's 'last words' were like so
gan ren lo! Triggering me to cry lo!
Not forgetting the campfire too! Quite a good job done but can be improved. The fire was too small but it's because of the tight budget. But I really enjoyed it.
Magnetism was there again! hahaha. Cause most of us in Alpha so it's quite easy. but i also got interact with my group people lo. But my voice went really
ku ku that day, so couldn't talk much as what I wanted. =(
Day 4 (today)
Almost half of the course went home yesterday. It's a Monday today. So left only 53 of us. Nevertheless, we had our half-course spirit in us.
Chiong like mad during the cleaning up so that we could end by 1pm instead of 4pm. We did finish early as everyone has the
chionging mentality in all of us and we encouraged each other throughout. So nice. haha. There was extra time so we sang songs and crap lo. But, my voice was even more worse than yesterday so, *sigh* was pulling me back from talking much. The debrief was fun! hahaha. Surprisingly, I kinda like the debrief. We were like "WE LOVE XXX SIR/MDM!" or we would three cheers for them! =)
Long entry uh! The camp really had taught me quite a lot. Some stuff is really hard to put them in words but here it is:
1. Training camp food CAN be good as long as you don't have Qingjun, Bingxiu & Junfeng in the messing. But you could throw away like 3/4 of the food. -_-"
2. It's ususally the guys in messing. And there's like always a better looking one. The helpers is what i'm refering too. There's one one really looks like wei ren. Edmund Tan I think. But he's like taller and better looking? tsktsk.
3. Hairnet sucks. We look like real idiots and noob in it especially when you had to wear it with you harid WET!
4. There is FULL BLAST ARICON in training camp! -_-" As in it's like so damn freezing COLD throughtout.
5. There IS angel and devil. (Mr. T & D.C. if you look at them today during debrief. one wear white, one wear balck with moustache. tsktsk.)
6. If you are being "LOVED" you get "CHOP!" (chop as in get the particular post for the next course and so on...)
Ok, let me get to the real thing...
7. Communication is important. Really important.
8. Learn more on traige & the improvising of stretcher. Thanks to Mr. Tien! He's like an angel. So wise and nice.
8. You don't have to shout in order to discipline a cadet. Mdm Amy taught us that. She's just great being the Discipline Officer. As in she really is a role model in getting the discipline straight in us. Ex-Zhonghuarian lo! Must learn from her a lot.
pei fu pei fu!
9. DDM can be cute and cheerful! Sir Adrian lo! He's just so humourous and fun. When he smiles, you can't see his eyes one lo! =)
10. Safety Officer IS the BEST. Sir Wei Wen to be exact. He's really nice to let like 3/4 of the people on night duty yesterday to go and sleep. So there's like lesser people on duty. So nice right! Somemore let them use walkie talkie with their own leisure. Serve them, food like prawn crakers and tidbits in the middle of the night! One of the officer to talk D.C. round in not letting us had the 2nd triage. Best of all let us get up at 7am lo! Like what! 7am?! Never in my trainee life had I waoke up so late before! So we were like "WE LOVE WEI WEB SIR!" throughout the debrief. He's damn nice! =)
11. All Officer invovled in OTC rocks and had really played an improtant role in one way of another to make this couse rocks even to the very last.
I really don't regret going. The experiance you get from the course is just so shiok. Especially when is almost coming to an end. The route seemed so tough at first. The many Sundays courses spent and camp that seemed so dreadful turned out to be a learning for me. A great one. Reacalling every bit of it is damn nice. I just love that feeling. It really had inculcate me in the great sense of responsibility that I would be having when I passed out. All officer really deserve the repect they should have. They had come a long route.
Sometimes, I just wonder how long and how far would I continue this St. John journey of mine. 5 years? 10 years? 30 years? Or a lifetime commitment? St. john had really played a big part in my life and now is the time I should pass down what it had given me to the rest (cadets)...
xoxo
